Media Consumption
While driving, STM should only be used for navigation.
Media playback and other interactive uses are intended only when parked or by passengers. Consuming visual media while driving is dangerous, and will have lasting consequences on your driving record and insurance. Safety is the only reason STM was invented.
About STM For Rear Entertainment
The integration to the vehicle headrest is as seamless as that of the dashboard. However STM for rear entertaiment is not yet available. Our website and other platforms will be updated as soon as there is a launch date for the seamless rear tablet mount.
STM For Indoor and Outdoor Enviroments
The video shows a mount being used on porcelain tile, which happens to have a high surface energy. The mount has a 1 mm thick nano acrylic adhesive.
Note: The mount can easily be removed from any surface, including cars’ headunit by using the proper shear force technique.
Although primarily designed for automobiles, STM can be used indoors and outdoors if mounted on medium to high-energy surfaces, which bond well with double-sided adhesive. Suitable adhesives include the 3M 5000 series (such as 5952) or any acrylic nano tape. Surface energy depends both on the material and its treatment; for example, anodized aluminium generally has high surface energy and adheres well to most double-sided adhesives. However, powder-coated aluminium shifts to low or medium surface energy, making it incompatible with clear acrylic nano tape but still suitable for 3M 5952. Don’t assume STM will work in any indoor area. Test by attaching an approximately 1.7 x 2 inch piece of aluminium with either adhesive to your intended mounting surface and gently pull it. If it detaches easily, STM likely won’t work there.

Q: Will this damage my car?
STM was specifically designed to not cause any damage or require modifications.
Q: Are you going to implement such and such feature?
Suggestions are always welcome. However, please keep in mind that STM was designed with universality and reusability as core priorities. For this reason, certain features were intentionally excluded, allowing the mount to be compatible with hundreds of vehicles, and easily reusable when you switch vehicle.
Q: I used all my extra pieces of double-sided tape, can I buy more on your site?
We are not selling adhesive at this moment. However, STM uses 2 types of adhesives, 3M 5952 for the board (magnetic rectangular part), and 1 mm thick acrylic nano tape (any brand) for all other parts. DO NOT use any other thicknesses. 3M 5952 is always 1.1 mm thick. In the case of mounts with cutouts (i.e. 2022 Toyota Camry), please use a blade to shape the adhesive for a good fit. It does NOT need to be perfect.
Q: My car is a 20xx brand/model, when will STM be available for my car?
A: We cannot answer this questions as certain vehicles require rigorous testing spanning on several days, hundreds of miles before being endorsed. However, your vehicle may still be compatible with STM even if not listed. Simply email us a picture of your dashboard, vehicle model and year, and we’ll confirm whether it’s compatible or not.
Q: You have the product listed for a 20xx brand/model/trim, and that looks very similar to my car, will it work.
